Guru Randhawa Pledges Rs 5 Lakh for Nepal Flood Relief on His Birthday
Indian singer and actor Guru Randhawa marked his birthday by contributing Rs 5 lakhs to ongoing flood relief operations in Nepal. The contribution is designated for on-ground humanitarian work, making him the first Punjabi artist reported to provide financial support for these specific disaster relief efforts.
What Happened
Choosing to prioritise humanitarian assistance over personal celebrations on his birthday, Guru Randhawa directed Rs 5 lakhs toward emergency operations assisting flood-hit families in Nepal. The financial aid is being routed through the non-profit organization Hemkunt Foundation. The resources are allocated to provide essential emergency food distribution, medical supplies, and on-ground rescue services to those displaced or impacted by the deluge.
This initiative comes closely on the heels of Randhawa’s aid work in Assam. Earlier in the month, he pledged Rs 12 lakhs toward rehabilitation projects in the flood-affected state. For the Assam initiative, he collaborated with the Hello Life Foundation to distribute essential supplies and worked alongside the Sikh Aid Foundation to construct 35 flood-resistant permanent houses and provide 100 bicycles to displaced families.

Why This Matters
The financial assistance directly targets urgent basic needs in Nepal, specifically rescue logistics, life-saving medical supplies, and vital nourishment for affected communities. By choosing to allocate personal funds toward disaster management rather than conventional birthday celebrations, the artist leverages his platform to draw public attention to the challenges faced by flood-impacted regions across international and domestic borders.
