Priyank Kharge-led Ministerial panel to review withdrawal of criminal cases in Karnataka

The Karnataka government has constituted a six-member Cabinet sub-committee, headed by Home Minister Priyank Kharge, to examine criminal cases pending before various courts in the State and recommend cases that may be withdrawn.

The committee comprises Social Welfare Minister K. H. Muniyappa, Health and Family Welfare and Minority Welfare, Haj and Wakf Minister U.T. Khader, Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, Municipal Administration Minister H. C. Balakrishna, and Urban Development Minister Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah.

The panel will examine criminal cases pending before courts across Karnataka and recommend suitable cases for withdrawal to the State government.

While considering each case, the committee will examine its nature, background and other relevant factors. It will submit its recommendations on cases found eligible for withdrawal in accordance with the applicable rules and procedures..
