WTC 2025-27 Points Table: Latest standings after ENG thump PAK
England defeated Pakistan in the first Test of their three-match series at Headingley, Leeds, to register their fifth win of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle. The match ran from August 19 to 23, 2026, with England dominating proceedings throughout, and the result has prompted a notable shift in the WTC standings.
Harry Brook scored 91 for England in the contest, while Ali Usman claimed a maiden Test five-wicket haul, finishing with figures of 5 for 92 for Pakistan. Joe Root also reached a significant personal milestone during the match, becoming the first captain to score 3,000 runs in the World Test Championship.
Where do England stand in the WTC 2025-27 table?
England now have 50 points in the WTC 2025-27 cycle, but their percentage points tally stands at just 24.36%, placing them seventh in the table. The low percentage reflects the number of matches they have played relative to their wins and losses across the cycle. Despite recording five wins in the current WTC cycle, England’s overall percentage keeps them well outside the top two positions that lead to the WTC Final.
Australia continue to lead the table with 84 points and a percentage of 77.78%, followed by South Africa at 75.00% and New Zealand at 72.22%. Bangladesh sit fourth with 40 points at 66.67%, while India, with 64 points, sit fifth at 53.33%. Sri Lanka are sixth at 33.33% with 20 points. England still have two Tests remaining in this series, with matches at Lord’s from August 27 to 31 and at Edgbaston from September 9 to 13, 2026, which will give them further opportunities to improve their points tally and percentage.

What does this result mean for Pakistan’s WTC qualification?
Pakistan‘s defeat at Headingley has left them in a deeply difficult position in the WTC 2025-27 standings. They now have just 16 points and a percentage of 22.22%, placing them eighth in the table. Pakistan have been nearly eliminated from WTC Final contention and do not have a realistic chance of qualifying for the final, which is scheduled to be played in June 2027.
They still have two Tests remaining in this England series, at Lord’s and Edgbaston, but the gap between their current percentage and those of the teams in the top two positions makes a turnaround extremely difficult. West Indies are the only team below Pakistan in the current standings, with 30 points but a percentage of 20.83%. For Pakistan, the remaining two Tests will offer little more than an opportunity to salvage pride and avoid further damage to their WTC record.
