Preity Zinta admits she DIDN’T miss facing the camera: “My greatest milestone was having children and a family”; adds, “My kids are half-Indian and half-American. But culturally, they are a 100% Indian!”
Batwara 1947 is highly awaited not just because it brings back Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi after 30 years but also because it serves as the comeback vehicle of Preity Zinta. The actress was her bubbly self during the group interviews held recently in Mumbai. She gave an interesting answer when asked whether she missed facing the camera and also about her children.
Preity Zinta said, “I did not miss, to be honest. I am not going to lie and say ‘Yes, I did’. I was enjoying having a family and having kids. It was new to me. I was focusing on my personal life. However big my career milestones might be, my greatest milestone was to have children and family. That’s why I could identify with this film that, though its 2026; my number one priority is still my family. So, imagine in 1947, how it must be. It’s a very different world and a different lens.”
Preity is a mother to twins, Jai and Gia. A journalist asked how she’s bringing them up and whether she’s ensuring they remain connected to Indian values. Preity Zinta revealed, “My kids are half-Indian and half-American. But culturally, they are 100% Indian. The values mostly come from the mother because it’s just the way it is. Mothers are more involved, especially jab bacche chhote hote hai. So, I would like my kids to take the best values from both countries. There is no hard-and-fast rule. As long as we are taking in all the good qualities, that is my hope. Beyond that, you cannot control anybody. You can just try your best as a parent and try to do the best for them. Beyond that, you know how it is, especially if you have kids!”
She laughed and added, “Before that, I was given a million opinions that ‘You should be like this’ and ‘You should be like that’. But now, I realized that there are limitations you have in what you can do.”
Batwara 1947 releases in cinemas on August 14.
