As Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his British counterpart Keir Starmer are set to jointly chair the CEO roundtable in Mumbai on Thursday, Rohan Malik, the Managing Partners with Ernst & Young, expressed his excitement over being part of the high-level meeting. Malik has travelled to India as part of the UK delegation that landed in Mumbai earlier today, along with UK PM Starmer.

Speaking to CNN-News18, Malik said, “I feel very optimistic that we have top economies. We imagine a 400 Billion Pounds joint venture in the future.”

“We have 1.5 million people of India in the United Kingdom. Indian Diaspora plays a very important role in the UK’s GDP. Cutting Edge companies looking for trading opportunities in India,” he added.

He further talked about his conversation with UK Prime Minister Kein Starmer, who jokingly said to him that he feels like a “Film Star” as he landed in India, and maybe he should try for a stint in Bollywood films.

“There is Bromance Between PM Modi and PM Starmer,” Malik added. He further stated that the UK delegation was very much excited to come to India and in fact, they did not even sleep during their flight journey due to excitement.

The visit comes months after India and the UK signed a trade deal during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s July visit to the European country. It also comes as both countries are navigating major geopolitical shifts, including their respective trading relationships with the US.
