PM Modi Japan Visit Live Updates: Japan to invest 10 trillion yen in India
During the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit, the two leaders are expected to review the Special Strategic and Global Partnership that binds the two nations. Key areas of focus will include defense and security cooperation, economic and trade collaboration, technological innovation and people-to-people exchanges. Regional and global issues will also be discussed, signaling the shared vision of both countries in addressing contemporary challenges. The Summit is expected to reaffirm the longstanding friendship and strategic alignment between India and Japan, strengthening ties that have been consistently nurtured over decades.
Following the Japan visit, PM Modi will proceed to China from August 31 to September 1 to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin, at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. India, a member of SCO since 2017, held the Council of Heads of State presidency during 2022-23, highlighting its active engagement in the organization.
The SCO Summit provides an important platform for India to engage with multiple regional and global leaders. China has described the summit as the largest in the bloc’s history, with 20 world leaders participating. On the sidelines of the summit, PM Modi is expected to hold bilateral meeting with several leaders.
Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi had formally conveyed the invitation for the SCO Summit to PM Modi on behalf of President Xi, which the prime minister accepted, highlighting the importance of the summit for regional cooperation and dialogue.
As the Prime Minister embarks on this high-profile tour, attention will be on the outcomes of the Annual Summit with Japan and the SCO Summit in China, which are expected to further consolidate India’s standing as a key player in regional and global affairs.
